Wildlife Overpasses
Desert bighorn sheep have long possessed a romantic image that has captivated visitors. The magnificent curling horns of the rams have inspired men from the ancient Anasazi rock artists, to the early explorers, prospectors and modern day hunters. The great curved horns, which may reach a full curl, attain a length of up to 102 cm (up to 40 in).

Highways interrupt the natural migration of the sheep so 3 wildlife overpasses were identified through GPS collared sheep. Three wildlife crossings over US 93 were constructed and can be seen as you travel along the highway.

Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam created Lake Mead. Lake Mead National Recreation Area has 1.5 million acres in the 3,000 square miles, including Lake Mead. The lake, occupies less than 13% of the total area of the park, and caters to boaters, swimmers, sunbathers, and fishermen. There are miles of crystal clear open water and clean beaches.

Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge

The Federal Highway Administration, in conjunction with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), officially opened the new segment of US 93, formally known as the Hoover Dam Bypass. Traffic began flowing on Tuesday night, October 19, 2010.

The Colorado River Bridge is the central portion of the Hoover Dam Bypass Project. Construction on the nearly 2,000 foot long bridge began in late January 2005. This signature bridge spans the Black Canyon (about 1,500 feet south of the Hoover Dam), connecting the Arizona and Nevada Approach highways nearly 900-feet above the Colorado River.

To visit the Hoover Dam, use Nevada exit 2.
